Jacksonville and the surrounding areas ( Amelia Island, Fernandina Beach and St. Augustine ) are comprised of creeks and flats that connect to the Intracoastal Waterway. The St. Johns River is also an integral part of the equation. We target Redfish, Flounder and Trout that use these areas to find food and safety from predators like dolphins, sharks and even some large birds of prey like ospreys and bald eagles. They feed on shrimp, crabs and baitfish that also live amongst the oyster beds and spartina grass. Redfish are aggressive hunters that use the tide and these areas to ambush their prey. By using flies, artificial lures and live bait, we target these fish in the very deepest parts of the marsh where they least suspect it.
